Introduction to Miniature Painting Workshop
Basic techniques taught in this workshop are:
- Base Coating
- Dry Brushing
- Washing
- Lining
- Glazing
- Sealing
- Basing
Common miniatures to learn to paint in this workshop are:
- Space Marines
- Wolves
- Skeletons
- Golems
- Walls
- Objectives
Different miniatures can be used upon request. Recommended group size for this workshop is six-to-twelve people. Cost is between $10-$20 per person depending on the miniature used. Miniatures used for a beginning workshop are typically assembled and primed. Paint and supplies are provided and the miniature is yours to take home. A beginning workshop takes between three-to-four hours to complete. Recommended age is twelve plus. Younger children are encouraged to participate, but it is recommended they be accompanied by someone older to assist them.
Miniature Assembly and Preparation Workshop
Techniques taught are:
- Cleaning
- Prepping
- Pinning
- Assembling
- Basic Sculpting
- Basing
- Priming
- Conversions (Independent Workshop)
- Safety
Miniatures for this work shop can be supplied or purchased and brought by the person(s) taking the workshop. Scheduling a beginning or intermediate workshop after this workshop is common. Recommended group size for this workshop is six-to-twelve people. Cost is between $10-$30 per person depending on the miniature used. An assembly and preparation workshop take three-to-four hours to complete. Recommended age is twelve plus. Sharp tools are used for this workshop. Younger children are encouraged to join, but need to be accompanied by an adult for this workshop.
Intermediate Miniature Painting Workshops
Intermediate techniques that can be taught are:
- Layering
- Blending
- Feathering
- Faces
- Introduction to Object Source Lighting (OSL)
- Zenith Priming
- Introduction to Air Brushing
Generally, miniatures and supplies used for intermediate workshops are brought by the person taking the workshop. However, miniatures and supplies can be provided upon request. Each technique listed above is a workshop in itself and generally takes three-to-four hours to complete. Recommended group size is three-to-six people. Cost varies between $10-$50 per person depending on supplies and the technique being taught. One-on-one painting workshops can also be arranged.
Holiday Themed Miniatures Painting Workshops
Holiday themed miniature workshops will be an intermediate painting workshop that focuses and painting a miniature for display. A miniature and supplies will be provided and the miniature will be yours to take home. Recommended group size is four-to-ten people and takes four hours to complete. Cost is generally between $25-$30 per person. Prerequisite: Introduction to Miniature Painting.
Paint and Takes
Paint and takes are meant for people who have learned basic painting techniques and want to improve upon what they have learned. Miniatures are assembled, primed, and supplies are provided. Generally, you can pick a miniature from an assortment provided. As you paint you can ask questions and get help improving your painting skills. Recommended group size is six plus. Cost varies between $10-$15 per person and this workshop takes three-to-four hours to complete. Pant and takes make for a nice party or group activity. Introduction to Miniature Painting is recommended before attending a paint and take.
Terrain Building Workshops
Building terrain used in tabletop games add character to the game board. A terrain building workshop varies from a simple wall to a building. Supplies are generally provided the terrain piece will be you to take home. Terrain workshops vary greatly and can cover any of the following techniques:
- Casting parts
- Working with rigid foam
- Working with wood
- Working with water effects
- Using Bitz
- Static Grasses
- Snow Effects
- Building a Game Table
- Building a Hill
- Building a Trench
- Building a Structure
Recommended group size is four plus. Cost varies between $10-$200 per person depending on the terrain piece being built and supplies needed. Recommended age is twelve plus for this workshop.
